  • Rye Lake Middle-High students share their learning on figures of Medieval history

Rye Lake High School students staged a Renaissance Exhibit of presentations on great figures of the period, from Shakespeare and Michelangelo to Raphael.

The event follows a visit earlier this spring to the Medieval Times Dinner Theater in New Jersey in late April. There they witnessed reenactments of medieval-style games, sword-fighting, and jousting. The Renaissance Exhibit required students to research an artist or writer from the period and produce a presentation based in Google Slides and an art piece. Their research ranged from samples of great works and biographical information about the figure to details about their impact on the world at the time.

Visitors perused the tri-fold displays arranged in the school’s main conference room, allowing students to share information and answer questions about their research.

  • Rye Lake's spirit on full display with a 'Step Into Spring' theme

Rye Lake Campus Middle-High School students and staff celebrated the arrival of spring with multi-themed week of school spirit displays.

"Step Into Spring," the spirit week theme, featured "Green Day" on March 17 with a wearing of the green, followed on Tuesday by sports team Jersey Day and and PJ Day on Wednesday. Thursday was all about Crazy Socks, of which there were many fun examples. However, Friday brought out Principal Eric Ford's fun side with Cartoon/Superhero Day where everyone was invited to dress up as their favorite character or hero!

School Spirit is thriving at Rye Lake, encouraging a positive, inclusive culture and unity among all students.

  • Lunchtime visit provides RLC middle schoolers a range of benefits - and a delicious meal!

Pizza partnership: Local business offers students hands-on lessons

Rye Lake Campus Middle School students Miles Dimasi, Denum Abreu, Xavier Tucker and Jace Thomas stepped behind the counter at Vinnie's Pizza on Broadway in North White Plains on a recent weekday. Each described his perfect pizza then watched wide-eyed as Vinnie himself assembled it from scratch. Their visit to this local business provided a chance to learn a skill, see what it's like behind the counter, and to practice their social skills. It also provided a delicious, personalized lunch, thanks to owner Vincent Villeda's generous invitation.
